Driving Jobs Liverpool: There is a wide variety of career opportunities available, from driving coaches and buses to working in the haulage industry. Completing your training with Abacus UK Training opens up a whole range of career paths.

The Driver CPC license does not replace your original UK driver’s license but instead is an addition to your vocational license, much like a motorcycle license. Anybody looking to work with coaches, buses, dustbin lorries, articulated lorries, tipper trucks or construction vehicles commercially, must test and train with a Complete Driver CPC course.

The aim of the CPC Driver Certification is to improve road safety and help to maintain high standards of driving across Europe. It is by far the most important thing for drivers to know how to comply with CPC legislation and the correct licensing of drivers.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you passed your car test after January 1997 and will be using your licence for work, you will need to undertake Initial Driver CPC Training. If you passed your car test before January 1997, and have a C1 or 7.5 ton entitlement on your licence, you do not need to take all four modules of the Initial Driver CPC Qualification, you only have to complete modules 2 and 4 of the course.

What is the Process?

New drivers obtain their vocational licence and Driver CPC by passing a series of initial qualification tests – theory and practical, with the initial training split into four parts:

1. Theory test

This multiple choice exam lasts 1hr 55 minutes and contains 100 questions.
The hazard perception part consists of of 19 video clips, with a total of 20 score-able hazards.

2. Case studies

The case studies are basically short realistic scenarios based on situations, written by industry experts, that are highly likely to happen in one’s working life as a lorry driver. The test lasts 64 minutes and covers seven case studies, with 50 questions all together. You’ll need to score at least 40 out of 50 to pass the test.

3. Practical test

The driving ability test is a practical test that lasts for 1 hour and 30 minutes and includes vehicle safety questions, practical road driving and off-road exercises.

4. Vehicle safety demonstration

This is an interactive scenarios test including loading the vehicle safely and ensuring that the load is kept secure, the ability to prevent physical risk to passengers, preventing the trafficking of illegal immigrants, assessing emergency situations and completing a walk round vehicle safety check.
